Am 1. August war Stichtag bei der Epic Poker League und die letzten Spieler konnten aufgrund ihrer Ergebnisse bei der World Series of Poker noch in die offizielle Spielerliste nachrücken.
Aus dem deutschen Sprachraum hatten Moritz Kranich (2 Jahre, A), Andreas Krause (2 Jahre, B), Florian Langmann (2 Jahre, B), Tobias Reinkemeier (2 Jahre, B), Sebastian Ruthenberg (3 Jahre) und Benny Spindler (2 Jahre, B) bereits ihre Tickets gelöst.
Nachgerückt sind Sandra Naujoks (2 Jahre, B) und Claudio Rinaldi (2 Jahre, B). Ob einer der ‚Auserwählten‘ jedoch die Reise über den Atlantik antreten wird, um das erste Turnier am nächsten Dienstag zu spielen, ist jedoch fraglich. Insgesamt haben sich 252 Spieler eine Playerscard für mindestens zwei Jahre gesichert und eine komplette Liste findet ihr weiter unten.
Der erste EPL Event startet am kommenden Freitag im Palms Las Vegas. Das $1.500 Pro/Am (Amateur) ist ein auf vier Tage (inkl. zwei Starttage) angelegtes Satellite, dass die einzige Möglichkeit ist, ohne Playerscard an einem der EPL Main Events teilzunehmen.
Zu gewinnen gibt es neben dem Preispool neun Commissioner’s Coins, die einer Wild Card für das exklusive Main Event gleichkommen. Obwohl das Turnier eigentlich ein Satellite ist, wird der Final Table ausgespielt und dank der Heartland Poker Tour auch im TV zu sehen sein.
Noch während das Pro/Am Qualifikationsturnier läuft, findet am 7. August zeitgleich das Charity Turnier statt. Das Wohltätigkeitsturnier ist ein $240 Event mit $100 Rebuys (in den ersten vier Blindlevels) sowie einem $100 Add-on. Der komplette Preispool wird der Operation USA, welches die Gelder direkt an die Tornadoopfer in Joplin (US-Bundesstaat Missouri) schickt, gespendet. Zu gewinnen gibt es Turniertickets sowie weitere gesponsorte Preise.
Der $20.000 Main Event, der nur für die Playerscard Spieler sowie die Commissioner’s Coins Besitzer zugänglich ist, findet dann vom 9. bis 12. August statt. Das Turnier wird für das TV aufgezeichnet und bei den US-Sendern CBS und Velocity zu sehen sein. Der Sieger das Main Event bekommt neben einem dicken Preisgeld auch einen Championsring.
Fast zeitgleich mit dem Start hat die Epic Poker League auch eine Facebook Anwendung ins Leben gerufen und will damit zukünftig den Pokerplattformen von Zynga und der WSOP Konkurrenz machen.
