Bobby James & Stanley Menzo
Zu einem ungleichen Duell kam es auf CoinPoker als der EPT Cyprus 8-Game Champion Bobby „BJPCoin“ James auf den gut betuchten Gelegenheitsspieler Stanley Menzo. Der Name sollte eher Fußball- als Pokerfans bekannt vorkommen. Denn Menzo konnte als Torwart zahlreiche nationale Titel in den Niederlanden und Belgien mit Ajax Amsterdam, PSV Eindhoven und Lierse SK einfahren. Zu seinen größten Erfolgen gehört der Gewinn des Europapokals der Pokalsieger 1987 und des UEFA-Pokals 1992. Nach seiner aktiven Zeit wechselte der niederländische Nationalkeeper als Trainer an die Seitenlinie. U.a. war er Torwarttrainer der niederländischen Nationalmannschaft, Trainer vom Lierse SK und zuletzt Nationaltrainer von Surinam. – In letzter Zeit ist der 62-Jährige vermehrt auf den höchsten Limits an Online Pokertischen zu sehen.
Heads-Up for Rolls
Die Vorzeichen für das Duell zwischen James und Menzo hätten unterschiedlicher nicht sein können. Auf der einen Seite die Erfahrung des Poker Pros Bobby James, auf der anderen die schier unendlich erscheinende Bankroll von Menzo. Dieses Duell erinnerte durchaus an das Aufeinandertreffen von The Corporation vs. Andy Beal, nur dass die Körperschaft hier ganz allein aus Bobby James bestand. Gespielt wurde Heads-Up an $200/$400 Tischen, also mit $40.000 Buy-In.
Zunächst hatte Stanley Menze die Auto Rebuy-Funktion aktiviert, womit sein Stack immer auf 100 BBs aufgefüllt, und die Heads-Up Partie immer deeper wurde. Bobby James war neugierig, ob Menzo der Fluch des jüngsten Cashouts treffen würde. Der Niederländer hatte nach seinen jüngsten Überraschungserfolgen auf CoinPoker ausgecasht und „nur“ noch rund $120k in seinem Account.
Rollercoaster Ride
Seine gesamte CoinPoker Bankroll sollte der Torhüter auch brauchen. Denn Bobby James legte so los wie man es von ihm erwartet hatte. Der Watforder brachte Menzo an seine Grenze nicht nur spielerisch, sondern auch finanziell – zumindest was sein CoinPoker Wallet betraf. Mit einem furiosen Run bustete er „BJP“ sogar, so dass der frischgebackene Papa auf einmal nachkaufen musste. Am Ende der Session sollte CoinPoker Ambassador James nicht wie es zwischenzeitlich der Fall war, das Heads-Up mit $100k plus und einem gebusteten Gegner verlassen, sondern mit einem Minus von etwa $20k.
